Jindra Čapek

A leading Czech painter and book illustrator, his work is known for its colorfulness, delicacy, and attention to detail. He has illustrated around seventy children’s books, published in thirty languages, and exhibits his work worldwide. He has received numerous awards. Born in České Budějovice, he emigrated to Switzerland in 1969 and studied in Zurich, Karlsruhe, and Freiburg. Since 1981, he has collaborated with Bohem Press, and after 1989 also with Czech publishers. He teaches illustration courses at a summer school in Sarmede, Italy, and currently lives and works in Český Krumlov.
